‘Friends’ Cast to Reunite for Exclusive HBO Max Special

It’s happening: The “Friends” cast is reuniting for an exclusive untitled unscripted special on HBO Max.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will return to the original “Friends” soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank to celebrate the long-running series, which ended its run in 2004.

Sources close to the situation tell Variety the six stars will receive at least $2.5 million apiece for participating in the special.

The reunion has been hotly anticipated, with speculation about the HBO Max special swirling since last fall, just months after the WarnerMedia-created SVOD platform nabbed the streaming rights to the show from Netflix in a deal with Warner Bros. Television. All 10 seasons of the comedy left Netflix at the end of 2019, meaning that “Friends” has thus far not been available to stream in the U.S. this calendar year — at least, not until HBO Max launches in May.

REVIEW: Bucket Knight on Xbox by Jon Donnis

I was sent a copy of Bucket Knight to review by SometimesYou, and as as 40 something male who grow up playing run and gun platform games such as Ghosts 'n Goblins, I couldn't be happier.

The basic story of the game is you play the part of a brave Knight who is looking to find the Holy Grail and then sell it. You go through the game, level by level, exploring dungeons, while killing your enemies, avoiding traps and collecting loot and food to stay alive along the way.

Netflix Developing ‘Cocaine Hippos’, a Movie About What Happened to Drug Kingpin Pablo Escobar’s Zoo Animals

I don’t know about you, but when I see the words “cocaine” and “hippos” next to each other, I pay attention. And when the context is that a major company is developing a movie called Cocaine Hippos, I perk up even more. So Netflix certainly has my attention with its new upcoming comedy, which, oddly enough, is based on a true story.

In the 1980s, notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar demanded that a group of exotic animals be brought in to populate the grounds of his estate as part of his own private zoo. And since he was one of the richest men in the world at the time, what Escobar wanted, Escobar got. Giraffes, zebras, elephants, and, yep, four hippos were all brought in from across the globe, but when he was killed in the early 1990s, the Colombian government stepped in and moved many of those animals elsewhere. All except the hippos. Those were left behind (maybe because hippopotamuses are incredibly dangerous and aggressive?), and the four originals eventually proliferated, leaving dozens of them in a country in which they were never meant to live.

‘Train To Busan’ follow-up ‘Peninsula’ scores raft of sales

South Korea’s Contents Panda has announced a raft of deals on Train To Busan director Yeon Sang-ho’s follow-up to the zombie hit, titled Peninsula, led by deals to North America (Well Go USA) and France (ARP SAS).

Although it is already being billed in some places as a “sequel to Train To Busan”, the director says, “Peninsula is not a sequel to Train To Busan because it’s not a continuation of the story, but it happens in the same universe.”

Budgeted at roughly twice Train To Busan’s $8m and starring top actor Gang Dong-won (1987: When The Day Comes) with Lee Jung-hyun (The Battleship Island), Peninsula takes place four years after the outbreak of zombies that were chasing protagonists on a train speeding south to Busan. The Korean peninsula is devastated and Jung-seok, a former soldier who has managed to escape overseas, is given a mission to go back and unexpectedly meets up with survivors.

White House Correspondents Dinner Returns to Comedy With Kenan Thompson, Hasan Minhaj

They’re trying to laugh again at the White House Correspondents Association annual dinner.

Long-running “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson will host the event, while comedian Hasan Minhaj will be the featured entertainer for the evening, which has often served as a spotlight on relations between the media and the White House.

Last year, in the wake of scrutiny on the annual gathering often referred to as the “nerd prom,” the WHCA turned toward education, rather than jubilation. Historian Ron Chernow discussed the history of journalism and the First Amendment – a twist for a gala that has often used comedic remarks from Cecily Strong, Seth Meyers and Larry Wilmore to get attention. Michele Wolf sparked controversy in 2018 with some jokes that took aim at former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

'Mulan' Receives First PG-13 Rating for Disney's Live-Action Remakes

Disney's live-action remake of Mulan has received a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America due to "sequences of violence."

Mulan's PG-13 rating makes it the first Disney live-action remake of animated classics to receive a rating above PG, and the first title from Disney's live action studio to receive PG-13 since Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017.

Trailers have depicted Mulan as more of a fantasy war epic than a musical, which strays from Disney's remakes often following similar beats to the original films, plus or minus a few songs or characters. Yet with the rating signifying a slightly more grown-up tale of the Chinese legend, modern times have proved that PG-13 rated features can still play well for families.

Nicolas Cage Talks Playing Himself And ‘Reenacting Past Movie Sequences’ In His Next Film – Exclusive

Few actors are able to give such unhinged performances as Nicolas Cage – the man who yelled the alphabet front-to-back in Vampire’s Kiss, ran around punching people while wearing a bear costume in The Wicker Man remake, and battled literal demons with a chainsaw in Mandy. He’s a master of going out there, and he’s about to face his greatest task in upcoming comedy The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent: playing himself. The meta-movie from writer-director Tom Gormican is due to go into production soon, and will see the actor portray two fictionalised versions of ‘Nicolas Cage’ – a present-day Cage, and a younger, wilder one.

Speaking to Empire in the upcoming The Mandalorian issue, Cage opened up about the film and his tailor-made role. “It’s a stylised version of me, and the fact I even have to refer to myself in the third person makes me extremely uncomfortable,” he says. “There are many scenes in the movie where modern or contemporary – here we go – ‘Nic Cage’ and then young ‘Nic Cage’ are colliding and arguing and battling it out. It’s an acrobatic approach to acting.”
