REVIEW: Unrailed! on PC

Unrailed! is a simple game, you have a train, and the train is moving from point A to point B, and your job is to make sure it gets there safely, you accomplish this by building the track ahead of your train. As I said, SIMPLE!, well not quite, you need wood and steel to build the track, so you need to cut down trees and mine the steel, but the train has already started moving, but wait you now have a river flowing through the area and you need to get past it, and now there are cows on the track, and just when you think you know what you are doing the train is now on fire!

And that pretty much is the game, each time you play a level and fail, you will instantly realise how you messed up, so you will restart and try to get it right. Ideally this is a multiplayer game, up to 4 players all at once helping each other to complete the track, mine, and so on. There is a single player mode, and you have the help of a bot which you can send commands to, to help you along.

REVIEW: Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry on XBOX ONE

Most gamers under the age of about 30 will have no idea who Larry Laffer is, well back in the late 80's and early 90's the Leisure Suit Larry games were some of the biggest games around, they featured adult humour, so if you were a kid these were the hottest things around. Well it is now 2020 and Larry is back, and I for one couldn't be happier, since I was playing these types of games all the way back in the 1980's.

Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry is a classic point and click adventure following Larry as he wakes up in a dark room, he finds his way out, heads into a bar, and is told he has been missing for 30 years. But Larry hasn't changed at all. He still only has one thing on his mind, and that is sleeping with women.

REVIEW: Swordbreaker: The Game on Xbox One

As a kid did you ever play one of those "choose your own adventure books", also known as a Gamebook.

Basically it was a physical book, but you didn't read it in a linear way, there were no chapters as such, you would read a passage, and then make a choice, and depending on the choice you would then go to a completely different page of the book. You literally were creating your own adventure. Well Swordbreaker: The Game is basically that but on a Xbox.

You play as the hero who starts the game inside an abandoned castle, and your ultimate aim is to find the hidden treasure, but of course you have obstacles along the way and each screen you come to is another choice, make the wrong choice and you may lose one of your three lives, lose all lives and that's it, you have to start all over again. You may choose to help a Librarian or push over a bookcase, you might choose to help alien, or kill them, every choice matters.

ANOTHER ROUND - Official Trailer - Starring Mads Mikkelsen

ANOTHER ROUND IS IN CINEMAS NOVEMBER 20th.

+ will premiere at The BFI London Film Festival on Wednesday October 14th

There is an obscure philosophical theory that humans should have been born with a small amount of alcohol in our blood; that modest inebriation opens our minds to the world around us, diminishing problems and increasing creativity.

Intrigued, Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) and three of his friends, all weary high school teachers, embark on a risky experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday.

Initial results are positive, but as the units are knocked back and stakes are raised, it becomes increasingly clear that some bold acts carry severe consequences.

REVIEW: The Suicide of Rachel Foster on XBOX ONE

The Suicide of Rachel Foster is what is known as a "Walking Simulator" although "first-person investigation" is probably just as good a description, so the basic story is that 10 years ago, Nicole (the character you control) left the family run hotel with her mother, after they found out that the father Leonard had had an affair with a girl named Rachel, who he made pregnant and she then committed suicide. Both the parents have now passed, and Nicole has returned to the hotel in the hope to sell it, as was the last wish of her mother.

At the hotel the weather has turned bad, and she is stuck inside this large hotel on a mountain. Her only connection to the outside world is Irving, a young Federal Emergency Management Agency agent using an old cellular telephone to communicate with each other. Nicole starts to investigate the hotel, and keeps in contact with Irvine throughout. She knows that her father had a role to play in the death of Rachel, so she explores the hotel to see if she can find out exactly what happened.

I wont spoil any more of the story as there are some twists and turns involved.

This is a big hotel, and very easy to get lost as you walk around, but you do have a map to help you.

As I stated at the start this is a Walking Simulation, in other words this is not a classic game, there are no bad guys to fight, no real puzzles to solve, instead this is about experiencing a story that has very mature topics within the story, from child grooming, to child pregnancy and of course suicide. The general game play is walking around, examining objects, interacting with Irving, talking about the past of the characters. There is even some flirting too.

The story is intense, and you do feel immersed within it. The graphics are detailed, and the sound is great, I found playing the game with headphones improves the experience in a big way.

ANTRUM - Official UK Trailer - In UK Cinemas October 23rd

Antrum, a feature length film shot in the late 1970's, is said to be cursed. In 1988, a movie theatre in Budapest that was screening the film burnt to the ground, killing the 56 people who were in attendance. This incident follows the inexplicable deaths of a number of film festival programmers that had received Antrum as a submission and died shortly after watching it. These events have created a belief that watching Antrum will kill you.

Antrum will be in UK Cinemas from 23rd October and DVD & Digital Download from 26th October
https://amzn.to/2E1UV8w

Believed to have been lost, a sole copy of the film was tracked down and packaged for public release. After a short 10 minute documentary which examines the dark history of the film, viewers are given the opportunity to watch the original version of this cursed film at their own risk.

The film features a teenage girl and her young brother putting their dog to sleep for a violent act it committed. In an effort to save its soul, they enter a forest that contains “The Antrum”, the very spot that the devil landed when he was cast out of heaven. There they begin to dig towards hell, and the deeper they dig the more dangerous the forest becomes. It has been observed that at this point in the film more malevolent events start happening to the audience watching it.

As a journalist has observed, “ANTRUM’s reputation is partially due to additional real-world events that took place as the actual film was being shown. When ANTRUM screened at Fanta Fest in Rome, the organisers brought in a priest to bless the theater.”

REVIEW: Golf Zero on Xbox One

Although this has the word "golf" in the title, it is not a golf game in the classic sense, in fact this is a platform game with a golf twist, and it is a totally unique twist.

The game is a cute 2D retro looking game, the basic aim is for you to hit a ball into the golf cup (hole), but of course as you progress through each level, this becomes a harder and harder challenge to accomplish, now because I am stupid I didn't watch the trailer before I started to play, and I literally got stuck on the 2nd level for a good 5 minutes, you see I didn't realise that you can hit the ball in mid jump. (See photo below) As soon as I realised that, I managed to start passing each level pretty quick. But the game does get much harder. You also have the challenge of accomplishing other things in the levels, for example getting a hole in one, or bursting a balloon, or riding a cart over spikes, and so on.

Doc Martin hangs up his stethoscope

The production team behind the hugely successful ITV drama Doc Martin have confirmed the next series, which begins filming in 2021, will be the final instalment in the life of the grumpy Cornish GP.

In spite of his cantankerous bed side manner, Doc Martin has won legions of fans in the UK and around the world for his incisive diagnoses and medical excellence as he treats patients in the sleepy Cornish fishing village of Portwenn where he spent holidays as a child.  His on-off love affair and eventual marriage to Louisa, played by long standing co-star Caroline Catz, created rare tender moments between the two characters as Martin often found it difficult to reveal his true feelings for her.

Series 10 will begin filming in the spring of 2021 with the drama then airing on ITV later that year.

Explaining their decision Martin Clunes and producer Philippa Braithwaite on behalf of production company, Buffalo Pictures, would like fans to embrace the final series and view it as a celebration of the character who has struck a chord with millions of viewers.

REVIEW: Road to Guangdong on Xbox One

Now if you said to me "here is a visual novel to play", I have to admit that I would be skeptical, I like my action games, I like life or death situations in my games, and a visual novel is something that I have rarely enjoyed, saying that I did give this game the benefit of the doubt.

You play as Sunny, a young art graduate who has just inherited her family's restaurant in Guangdong, South China in the 1990s the problem is that the restaurant is in trouble, so along with her old aunt Guu Ma you journey to find old family friends and relatives in an effort to find recipes and secrets that will help you bring back this restaurant to it's full potential.

REVIEW: Alien Addiction - Out on Digital Download from 12th October

I was invited to review Alien Addiction, and I have to admit at first I was a little bit skeptical, but after watching this film, I can say with the upmost confidence, I have never quite seen a film like this before.

It is incredible, and in a great way. One look at the poster, and you know this is going to be different.

Set in Waikato, New Zealand, the film follows Riko, played by the excellent Jimi Jackson, he is your typical young man, has an eye for the ladies, a bit of a prankster, he is having fun with his mates, when an alien ship crash lands near his house. He then somehow makes friends with them, and they then have an awesome day and night. Of course there are protagonists, that being "Alientologist" Peter Mackintosh (Thomas Sainsbury), who has been studying UFO's for 10 years and has tracked down the aliens and Riki, and plans to expose them to the world. I wont say more than that as I don't want to spoil it any more, but let's just say that this film really is some good sh*t.

This is a funny film, I rarely laugh out loud at anything, I have seen it all, heard it all, seen all the great comedies in history, well I thought I had seen and heard it all before I saw Alien Addiction, I have to admit, this film got me, it surprised me, it made me laugh, and I have already told 3 friends about the film within 10 minutes of it finishing. And if that is not a good sign of a great film then I don't know what is. It is a completely original and unique film in this genre. I can't think of any other film to compare it to.

Something that many people may not notice in the film is the attention to detail, something as silly as the way the aliens walk had be laughing out loud, but it also had me asking, why as no other film in history where they have had bipedal aliens, ever thought of this. Something so simple, but so genius, just adds a dynamic to this film that I just would never have thought of.

This is an indie film, and as such you usually expect a low budget, but this really is a well produced film, some great camera shots, high class audio, and an all round great cast.

If you like silly humour, funny jokes, and strong "Kiwi" language, then you will love this film.
I truly believe this film will become a cult classic, with a solid following of people singing it's praises.

Scroll down to watch the trailer.

This is the best Indie film I have seen in the last ten years. And as such I will give it a perfect 10/10
I absolutely loved it.

REVIEW: Unholy (2024 Horror Game) - On Xbox
