Malmkrog - Exclusive New Trailer and Poster

New poster and trailer released for Cristi Puiu's historical drama Malmkrog, which heads to the UK on Virtual Cinemas and VOD 26th March from Sovereign.
Guests arrive at the mansion of aristocratic landowner and man of the world Nikolai over the Christmas holidays. Among them are a politician, a young countess and a general with his wife. They converse and dine – what a wonderful, much-missed way of life – indulge in parlour games and discuss politics, progress, morality, death, and the Antichrist. As the debate becomes more heated, cultural differences become increasingly apparent and the mood grows tense. In the end, everyone will become a victim of his or her own discourse.

Puiu was named Best Director for the new Encounters Awards at the 70th Berlin Film Festival last year, and Malmkrog won Best Film and Best Screenplay at the 2020 Seville European Film Festival. Based on the work of Russian philosopher Vladimir Solovyov, Malmkrog is provocative, engrossing, and extremely timely filmmaking. Puiu, who won the Un Certain Regard Best Film award at Cannes in 2005, for The Death of Mr Lazarescu, cements his reputation here as one of Europe's most accomplished and uncompromising directors.

Kenneth Branagh to play U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Sky Original drama This Sceptred Isle

Sky today announced the commission of a major new limited series, This Sceptred Isle. The Sky Original drama which will air on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV will be produced by Fremantle, Richard Brown's Passenger and Michael Winterbottom's Revolution Films. BAFTA and Emmy award-winning actor Kenneth Branagh will play U.K. Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The five-part drama will chart the events surrounding the U.K. Prime Minister, the government, and the country in the face of the first wave of the global pandemic.

This Sceptred Isle will tell the tale of some of the most devastating events to ever befall the United Kingdom, and of a Prime Minister leading in these unprecedented times. The drama will trace the impact on Britain from this once in a generation pandemic, and the response of scientists, nurses, and doctors as they worked tirelessly and heroically to contain and overcome the virus. It is based on the first-hand testimony of people from all walks of life; from Number 10 Downing Street, the Department of Health, The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), and from hospitals and care homes across the country.

Michael Winterbottom has co-written the series with Kieron Quirke, and will direct all five episodes. He will also Executive Produce alongside Richard Brown (Passenger). Melissa Parmenter (Revolution Films) will produce alongside Josh Hyams and Anthony Wilcox. Tim Shipman, political editor of The Sunday Times, is acting as a consultant on the series. This Sceptred Isle is the first project to emerge from a multi-year first look deal for scripted drama series struck by Fremantle and Passenger with Revolution Films.

Winterbottom has a track record of making factual based dramas including the award-winning films Welcome to Sarajevo, A Mighty Heart, 24 Hour Party People and The Road to Guantanamo.

Actor Glen Wallace to soon be hitting the cobblestones in Coronation Street and the long awaited third season of Marcella

This January Glen Wallace will be taking over our TV screens in two hit series - ITV's award-winning drama Marcella, as well as ticking another top British soap off his list and hitting the cobblestones of Coronation Street.
 
Glen will be appearing in Coronation Street from 29th January as Lucas, a business associate of Carla's who finds himself embroiled in her personal problems too...!
 
From the BAFTA nominated The Secret, to his British Soap Award nominated performance as Malachy Fisher in Hollyoaks, Northern Irish actor Glen Wallace has also appeared in Wire in the Blood, Casualty and Eastenders.


Marcella is set to return to ITV on Tuesday, January 26 at 9pm.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.

Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters set to return in fourth installment of Sky Original Bulletproof

Noel Clarke and Ashley Walters will very soon reprise their roles as Aaron Pike and Ronnie Bishop in the Bulletproof franchise as Sky announces its commission for a fourth, 8x60' series to air on Sky One and TV streaming service NOW TV.

After two hugely successful series of the Sky Original, and with the upcoming special third instalment Bulletproof: South Africa hitting screens on 20th January, 9pm, Sky One, audiences will again be reunited with their favourite cop duo. Bishop and Pike are set to be implicated in a grisly murder, leaving their jobs, lives and families hanging in the balance. The Art of Political Murder - coming to Sky Documentaries on 12 January

An interview with Sacha Dhawan

How would you describe the show and your character?

Orlo is Russia's first geek of books. A mostly ignored advisor to Peter (Hoult) whose job it is to bring some intellectual and legal framework to discussions. Under all that neurotic anxiety beats the heart of a Lion. He becomes Catherine's (Fanning) partner in crime.

The Great is an unexpected period show, loosely based on the life and rise to power of Catherine the Great. Its unique because it respects the period whilst throwing it out the window at the same time. For starters, I'm a British South Asian actor playing a character that is Russian from head to toe, and that's what the show does so well. It challenges the audiences perception right from the get go! I like to think of it as an ensemble of contemporary characters in a period setting, and the challenges and dilemmas they face are as vital as our dilemmas and challenges today.

How would you describe the show and your character?

The show is an irreverent take on the life of Catherine The Great. A costume drama with funny bones. I play Marial, a former lady of the court, now turned begrudging servant.

Trailer Revealed for Upcoming Sky Original Film Dragon Rider

From 12 February, join Firedrake, a young silver dragon on his magical adventure of courage, self-confidence, hopefulness, and the forging of unusual friendships as Dragon Rider, a Sky Original flies into homes on Sky Cinema this February half term.

Dragon Rider comes from the original story of Cornelia Funke's worldwide bestselling children's novel of the same title, brought to screen from the filmmakers behind The NeverEnding Story and the Fantastic Four film franchise. Dragon Rider boasts a star-studded cast of voices from Felicity Jones (Rogue One, The Theory of Everything), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen's Gambit, The Maze Runner), Patrick Stewart (X-Men, Star Trek), and Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, The Good Doctor).

Dragon Rider, a Sky Original, tells the story of Firedrake (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), who wants to show the older generation he is a real dragon, not the naïve fledgling they see him as. When he discovers that humans are about to destroy the forest where the dragons reside, he sets off on a daring crusade with his best friend Sorrel (Felicity Jones) in search for a mythical safe haven hidden in the Himalayas where dragons can live in peace.
