‘Fast & Furious 9’ Release Pushed Back a Year Due to Coronavirus

“Fast 9” has pushed back its theatrical release date by a year.

Universal Studios, the company behind the “Fast & Furious” franchise, made the decision because of the impact that the fast-moving coronavirus is having on the global economy and the distribution landscape. Theaters remain closed in Italy, South Korea and China, where the virus has hit hardest. There’s also a mounting sense that some theaters will close in the U.S. as the outbreak continues to spread. “Fast 9” will now open globally in April 2021 and in the U.S. on April 2.

Vin Diesel made the announcement on social media. “We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga,” he wrote. “That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.”

Disney Postpones Releases of ‘Mulan,’ ‘The New Mutants’ and ‘Antlers’

Disney has postponed the releases of “Mulan,” “The New Mutants” and “Antlers” out of “an abundance of caution,” Disney announced Thursday.

“As you know this has been a rapidly evolving situation and I wanted to make you aware that we are postponing the releases of ‘Mulan,’ ‘The New Mutants,’ and ‘Antlers’ out of an abundance of caution. We truly believe in the moviegoing experience, and we are looking at new potential 2020 release dates to be announced at a later date,” Disney said in a statement.

“Mulan” was supposed to hit theaters March 27, while “The New Mutants” was scheduled for an April 3 release date and “Antlers” was supposed to open April 17.

ITV commissions crime drama Professor T starring Ben Miller and Frances De La Tour

Based on the hit Belgian series of the same name, Professor T is set against the stunning backdrop of one of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions, Cambridge University.

Ben Miller (Johnny English, Death in Paradise) plays the genius OCD criminologist, Professor Jasper Tempest, alongside Tony award-winning actress Frances de la Tour (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The History Boys) as his colourful but overbearing mother, Adelaide. Harvey Weinstein Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison

Harvey Weinstein will spend 23 years in a New York State prison after being sentenced by Supreme Court Judge James Burke on Wednesday morning.

Weinstein was convicted Feb. 24 of committing a criminal sexual act in the first degree and third-degree rape.

The sentencing ends Weinstein's New York trial, which began Jan. 6. His team has said they will appeal the jury's decision to convict him on two of the five charges he faced.

Judge Burke, before issuing his sentence, told Weinstein that he will be formally registered as a sex offender.

For his conviction on the first-degree count of criminal sexual act, Weinstein was given 20 years in prison plus five years of supervised release. On the other convicted charge, third-degree rape, he was given three years in prison.

The judge decided to make the sentences consecutive, rather than concurrent.

Kal Penn Would ‘Love’ to Do a Fourth ‘Harold & Kumar’ Movie

If Kal Penn gets his way, a fourth “Harold & Kumar” movie will be streaming on a service near you.

“I feel like it’s gotta be a streamer because people just love watching [these movies] in the comfort of their own home on a Friday night at 2 a.m., which is more streaming ‘binge-able’ than it is going to the theater,” Penn, 42, told Variety.

Penn and co-star John Cho cemented their legacies in the stoner comedy world with 2004’s “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle,” as two buddies whose pot-fueled munchies trip turns into a zany misadventure that includes Neil Patrick Harris and riding a cheetah.

The comedy became a hit and spawned two follow-ups, 2008’s “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” and 2011’s “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas.”

And sounds like Cho would be on board, too.

“We would love to do a fourth movie. John Cho and I text about it all the time,” said Penn. “Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg — who created and wrote all three movies in the franchise — we all would love to do one. I think we all, thankfully, have the blessing of being really busy right now and want to find the right venue and the right timing.”

Max Von Sydow Dies: Revered Star Of ‘The Exorcist’ & ‘The Seventh Seal’ Was 90

Max von Sydow, the Sweden-born French actor whose credits included Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal, William Friedkin’s The Exorcist, and the role of Emperor Ming in Flash Gordon, has died at the age of 90.

The actor’s 65-year career spanned acclaimed arthouse, Hollywood blockbusters, and television. In recent years, he played Lor San Tekka in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the Three-Eyed Raven in Game Of Thrones, and voiced a character on The Simpsons.

John Oliver Slams Disney-Owned Streamer for Censoring 'Last Week Tonight' Jokes About Disney

John Oliver says a Disney-owned streaming platform in India has been censoring out jokes mocking Disney characters in its broadcasts of his HBO late-night show, Last Week Tonight.

Oliver started out Sunday night's episode by explaining that Disney-owned Hotstar, which distributes the series in India, decided to, in his words, "self-censor," and did not upload a recent episode of Last Week Tonight that was critical of Narendra Modi, India's prime minister.

"What's worse is, it's apparently not even the first time they have censored us," Oliver said. "We've discovered that they've been quietly doing it for a while now, but not for the reason that you might expect."

Greyhound - Official Trailer (2020) Starring Tom Hanks

Greyhound is an upcoming war film directed by Aaron Schneider and starring Tom Hanks, who also serves as screenwriter.

The film is based on the 1955 novel The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester. It also stars Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elisabeth Shue. The film follows a US Navy Commander on his first war-time assignment at the midpoint of World War II during the Battle of the Atlantic, as he leads his multi-national escort group in defending a convoy of merchant ships as submarines attack.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 12, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

During the early days of the United States' involvement in World War II, an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by Lieutenant Commander Ernest Krause, crosses the treacherous North Atlantic while being hotly pursued by wolf packs of German U-boats.

The Steph Show to be filmed at Leeds Dock

Channel 4’s new daytime show, The Steph Show, is to be filmed at Leeds Dock.

The daily programme, presented by Steph McGovern, will be broadcast live from the Leeds waterfront.

Set to launch this Spring at the heart of Channel 4’s daytime schedule, the show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and feature a mix of entertainment, lifestyle and light current affairs with a variety of guests from the worlds of showbiz, politics and beyond.

Steph McGovern said: “We’ve chosen a brilliant location for our studio in Leeds. We’ve got a lush view over the canal and we’ll be able to have a good nosey at all the people out and about round the Docks. Given it’s a live show who knows what might happen!
