REVIEW: Mostroscopy (2025 Video Game) - On PC (Steam)

Mostroscopy is a fighting game that draws heavily from the aesthetics of 1950s Mexican horror and Luchador films, offering a unique visual experience with its retro presentation and a diverse roster of fighters, including masked Luchadores and classic monsters like vampires and werewolves. The game features a simple control system inspired by Smash Bros. and Street Fighter x Tekken, with each character having three basic moves: a normal attack, a special attack, and a guard. While the minimal controls make the game accessible to casual players, they may leave hardcore fighting game fans wanting more depth. The game also includes several modes like arcade, versus, online, and challenge modes, adding variety to the experience.

The game's strengths lie in its distinctive look, impressive character designs, and a soundtrack that complements its old-school horror vibes. However, the gameplay lacks the complexity some players may expect from a more traditional fighting game, and the online mode suffers from occasional lag. The absence of customization options, such as graphic settings, is also a missed opportunity. Despite these shortcomings, Mostroscopy stands out as an entertaining game for those who appreciate its nostalgic theme and accessible gameplay, though it might not have the lasting appeal of more technically advanced fighting games.
