John Oliver Slams Disney-Owned Streamer for Censoring 'Last Week Tonight' Jokes About Disney

John Oliver says a Disney-owned streaming platform in India has been censoring out jokes mocking Disney characters in its broadcasts of his HBO late-night show, Last Week Tonight.

Oliver started out Sunday night's episode by explaining that Disney-owned Hotstar, which distributes the series in India, decided to, in his words, "self-censor," and did not upload a recent episode of Last Week Tonight that was critical of Narendra Modi, India's prime minister.

"What's worse is, it's apparently not even the first time they have censored us," Oliver said. "We've discovered that they've been quietly doing it for a while now, but not for the reason that you might expect."

Greyhound - Official Trailer (2020) Starring Tom Hanks

Greyhound is an upcoming war film directed by Aaron Schneider and starring Tom Hanks, who also serves as screenwriter.

The film is based on the 1955 novel The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester. It also stars Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan, and Elisabeth Shue. The film follows a US Navy Commander on his first war-time assignment at the midpoint of World War II during the Battle of the Atlantic, as he leads his multi-national escort group in defending a convoy of merchant ships as submarines attack.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 12, 2020, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

During the early days of the United States' involvement in World War II, an international convoy of 37 Allied ships, led by Lieutenant Commander Ernest Krause, crosses the treacherous North Atlantic while being hotly pursued by wolf packs of German U-boats.

Channel 4’s new daytime show, The Steph Show, is to be filmed at Leeds Dock.

The daily programme, presented by Steph McGovern, will be broadcast live from the Leeds waterfront.

Set to launch this Spring at the heart of Channel 4’s daytime schedule, the show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and feature a mix of entertainment, lifestyle and light current affairs with a variety of guests from the worlds of showbiz, politics and beyond.

The Batman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by DC Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it was developed as the tenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film is directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin, and will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, with Jeffrey Wright, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, and John Turturro in supporting roles.

The Batman is scheduled to be released on June 25, 2021.

Global Film Industry Facing $5 Billion Loss Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

China's theaters are closed, while box office revenue in South Korea and Italy has dipped and "the outlook is unpredictable."

In 2019, the international box office soared to a record $31.1 billion, contributing to a worldwide haul of $42.5 billion, likewise an all-time high. But the celebration by the global film industry has quickly been replaced by anxiety because of coronavirus, which many public health officials are now calling a global pandemic — one that could keep populations around the world away from public spaces, like multiplexes, for weeks or months.

As of late Monday, the virus, which causes the respiratory illness known as COVID-19, had infected over 90,000 and claimed more than 3,000 lives worldwide. The vast majority of the deaths have been within China, where the virus emerged, but more new cases are now being found outside of the country than within it. South Korea saw its confirmed infections nearly double over the weekend to 4,300.

‘Stranger Things’ Season 4: ‘Fleabag’s Brett Gelman Upped To Series Regular

Brett Gelman has been promoted to series regular on Netflix’s Stranger Things season 4.

‘Schitt’s Creek’ Star Emily Hampshire Joins ‘Jerusalem’s Lot’ Stephen King Series at Epix

Emily Hampshire, best known for playing the motel clerk in “Schitt’s Creek,” has been cast in a forthcoming Epix series.

She will join Adrien Brody in “Jerusalem’s Lot,” a drama based on the Stephen King story set in the 1850s, which received a series order late last year.

“Jerusalem’s Lot” follows Captain Charles Boone (Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.

William Shatner Refuses To Reprise His Role As Captain Kirk, ‘Star Trek’ Icon Says Character Is “Played Out”

If you are waiting for Star Trek legend William Shatner to make an appearance as Captain Kirk in a new film or TV series based on the original franchise, don’t hold your breath.

With Star Trek: Picard on CBS All Access giving new life to Patrick Stewart’s titular character, a fan asked Shatner if he would consider a series based on Kirk.

“No,” he tweeted back. “I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point.”

In a follow-up tweet, he addressed whether or not he would be in any extension of the franchise and he remarked: “What was any different about my statement on Kirk that I haven’t said before? ‘The Magicians’ to End After Season 5 on Syfy

And for its final trick, “The Magicians” is bidding farewell.

Syfy has announced that the current fifth season of the fantasy show will be its last. Season 5, which is scheduled to last 13 episodes, premiered in Jan. 2020, meaning that the series finale will air on April 1.

Based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling novels of the same name, “The Magicians” centers on a group of 20-somethings from Brakebills University as they discover their magical abilities and ward off evil creatures. The series first premiered on Syfy in January 2016, and has been one of its most consistent shows over the last four years.

News of the show’s end means that the NBCUniversal-owned cabler’s scripted roster has been whittled down to only a couple of returning series. However, Syfy is gearing up to premiere several new offerings in the near future, and recently ordered a pair of shows including one inspired by George A. Romero’s “Day of the Dead.”

Pornhub to Release First Ever Non-Adult Film, About Black Lesbian Strip Club Culture

Ubiquitous American pornography website Pornhub is releasing its first ever non-adult film on Wednesday, the company exclusively announced to Variety.

The move places the digital giant, which estimated 42 billion visits to the site last year, in the company of other streamers seeking to expand audiences and diversify its content portfolios. The movie in question is the documentary “Shakedown,” from filmmaker and conceptual artist Leilah Weinraub. It hails from the upper echelons of the art world, where the project enjoyed a prestige rollout in exhibits at the Whitney Museum and MoMA over the last three years.

“Shakedown” is a stream-of-consciousness, nonfiction narrative about the queer women and men who populated the lesbian strip club scene in Los Angeles in the early aughts. It is culled from neatly 15 years of footage shot by Weinraub over her adult life, and offers a humorous, sensual and informative look at a vibrant subculture.

Emmy winner Jon Hamm is in talks to join Don Cheadle and Sebastian Stan in Steven Soderbergh‘s Kill Switch, Collider has exclusively learned. Cedric the Entertainer is also in talks for the project, according to sources.

Written on spec by Ed Solomon (Men in Black), the film is described as a 1950s crime drama set in Detroit about a trio of criminals who carry out a home invasion, only to wonder if they’ve been double-crossed when the job goes sideways. Hamm is in talks to play a cop on the trio’s trail, which should excite fans of The Town.

Ferne McCann: First Time Mum returns to ITVBe in 2020

ITVBe today announced that following the success of the last four series, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum will return to ITVBe this spring, followed by another series in the autumn.

Due to air this spring, the 4 x 60” series will see Ferne once again offer another look at her extraordinary life with daughter Sunday, as she juggles motherhood with a career in the spotlight.

This series Ferne and Sunday embark on one of their biggest adventures yet, as they make the move to a brand new home. Ferne also continues her search for love, but could she have finally found her happily-ever after?

The Real Housewives of Cheshire are back for series 11 of the hit ITVBe show with even more fun, frolics and fabulousness. Launching this spring, the 10x60’ series will be followed by the Reunion show in the summer.

Dawn Ward, Ester Dohnalová, Hanna Kinsella, Rachel Lugo, Seema Malhotra and Tanya Bardsley will all return to our screens for series 11. They will be joined by beloved housewife Lauren Simon, who is also set to come back and Christine McGuiness who returns as a guest. But how will the ladies fare when another housewife is brought into the fold?

New addition, Nicole Sealey is famous in Cheshire for her no-nonsense attitude. Business woman, mother and self-proclaimed ‘ball-buster’, Nicole isn’t your typical Cheshire Housewife. Originally from London, she is a recent addition to the affluent golden triangle, after she moved to Wilmslow five years ago with her husband, Joe, son of Manchester United legend Les Sealey. Together with her husband, Nicole owns a personal training company, NEON PT and gym. She also runs her own railway recruitment company. In addition to these businesses, the couple have recently put in a bid to takeover Macclesfield Town Football club. If they are successful, Nicole will become the third woman in the UK to own a football club.

James Lipton, Creator and Host of 'Inside the Actors Studio,' Dies at 93

James Lipton, the elegant, articulate wordsmith and theater academic whose desire to give his acting students a greater insight into their art led to the popular Bravo series Inside the Actors Studio, has died. He was 93.

Lipton died early Monday at his home in Manhattan from bladder cancer, his wife, Kedakai Mercedes Lipton, told The Hollywood Reporter.

"He lived each day as if it were his last," Kedakai Lipton said in a statement to THR. "His work was his passion, loved what he did and all the people he worked with. He empowered people to do their best, and hopefully his spirit, curiosity and passion will live on."

Antonio Banderas Joins Tom Holland in ‘Uncharted’ Movie

Fresh off his first Oscar nomination, Antonio Banderas has joined Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in the cast of Sony’s “Uncharted” adaptation.

Sophia Ali and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” actor Tati Gabrielle have also boarded the film, sources tell Variety.

Ruben Fleischer (“Venom”) will direct the movie, closing a deal after he was reported as the top choice for the job in January. The long-gestating project follows Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover various historical mysteries. It is unknown who Banderas, Ali and Gabrielle will be playing in the film.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the most recent draft of the script. “Uncharted” is set to release in theaters March 5, 2021.

Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are producing for Atlas Entertainment and Avi Arad and Ari Arad for Arad Productions, while Playstation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will serve as executive producers.

A24’s Fantasy Film ‘The Green Knight’ To Make World Premiere At SXSW

A24’s David Lowery fantasy adventure movie The Green Knight is making its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, TX on Monday, March 16 at 5:30pm at the Paramount Theatre.

Despite industry panic about the coronavirus, SXSW is indeed moving forward. Today’s news follows this morning’s announcement from SXSW about their “Conversations About America’s Future” political panel lineup which includes such speakers as Hillary Rodham Clinton, Anita Hill, Gretchen Carlson, Andrew Yang, among others.

Yesterday SXSW continued to back-up their statement from late last week, that the fest is working closely on a daily basis with local, state, and federal agencies to plan for a safe event. “As a result of their dialogue and the recommendations of Austin Public Health, the 2020 event is proceeding with safety as a top priority,” said the fest yesterday.
