REVIEW - Edna & Harvey: The Breakout - Anniversary Edition
Review By Jon Donnis
I was kindly sent a copy of Edna & Harvey: The Breakout - Anniversary Edition by Daedalic Entertainment for review.
You play as Edna, a young girl who wakes up in a padded cell of an insane asylum with no memory of her past or how she ended up there. Her only help is her talking toy bunny Harvey. Will she be able to escape, regain her memory and find her way home?
Originally released over 10 years ago on Windows PC, you can play the game in its original graphic mode, or an updated HD mode. The basic games mechanics find you trying to solve puzzles, and get to the next part of the story.

REVIEW: 7500 - Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Review By Jon Donnis
I was asked to review 7500 by Amazon Studios, and here are my thoughts.
7500 is one of those rare films whereby you go in with low expectation, but come out pleasantly surprised.
When you consider that the entire film is pretty much set inside the cockpit of a plane, with the exception of the opening credits, you would think that the film would struggle, since you are relying 100% on the acting ability of the cast. With Joseph Gordon-Levitt you have an experienced actor, and he does not let you down.

Interview with Mary Hewey - Co-Director of JACK & YAYA
“I hope people walk away from this film with more empathy and understanding of what it means to be trans”, says Mary Hewey, co-director of Jack & Yaya, the highly-anticipated doc available On Demand June 19th from Freedom Cinema LLC.
Jack & Yaya captures a year in the life of childhood best friends who go from swapping gendered Christmas gifts as kids to transitioning in their twenties. The titular next-door neighbors grew up together in a rural area but were able to support each other when they learned they were both transgender.
How long of a journey has this been for you, Mary – from script to screen?
It’s a little hard to know where to start because Jack and I have been good friends since 2010, but it wasn’t until a number of years later that the idea of a documentary came around. The first little seed of an idea for the film started in December 2016, right after Christmas. I think I had just been talking to Jack, who was home in New Jersey with Yaya and his family for the holidays, and I was really struck by their friendship and so I just wrote down “Jack and Yaya documentary?” I revisited the idea with Jen, my partner, who had been working in film for since college, and after many long conversations, we decided to give the project a shot. Our original idea had been to do a short film, but we quickly found out that there was just no way we could cram thirty years of friendship into less than an hour.

Homewrecker - Red Band Trailer - Starring Alex Essoe and Precious Chong
The critically acclaimed festival hit Homewrecker hits select theaters, digital and DVD this summer.
From Uncork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures, Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep) and Precious Chong (L.A Confidential) star in director Zach Gayne’s “hilarious, dark view of modern loneliness” that has “the energy of a Jane Fonda workout tape” (Rotten Tomatoes).

Seeking a new friend, Linda coerces the reserved, deferential Michelle into visiting her home for a spontaneous interior design consultation. Once inside, it quickly becomes clear that Linda has something far more sinister on her mind than throw pillows.
Scripted by Precious Chong, Alex Essoe and Zach Gayne, Homewrecker is “a delightfully twisted tale of obsession that is full of surprises” (Cinema Axis) with “a pair of great lead performances at its center” (TheCriterionCast).

Interview with Davina McCall for Big Brother: Best Shows Ever
Ahead of Big Brother: Best Shows Ever, we sat down (virtually) with Davina McCall to discuss this new show celebrating Big Brother's 20th anniversary.
1) It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since Big Brother first landed on UK screens, what do you miss most about presenting it?
DM: I know, god I can’t believe its 20 years. Over the 11 years that I did, it developed a lot and changed a lot. The beginning few years, I loved the anarchy and the fact we didn’t know what was going to happen or how it worked. The first couple of series, we didn’t know how anything would pan out or how people would react. Then in the next few series, people used to say ‘oh it’s a set up’ or ‘the producers are fixing it’ but actually, we never knew what was going to happen. We might have put two people in that we thought ‘they definitely will fancy each other’ and then they don’t fancy each other at all. Free will is such an amazing thing. I remember there was a task where my producer said that we were going to put them all in cardboard boxes. I asked ‘are you sure, that is going to be the most boring bit of telly ever’ and he went, ‘yes, we’re going to do it’. It turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve never laughed to hard! You just never knew what was going to work or be brilliant!
2) You hosted Big Brother for a total of 11 years, so it must have been a job you loved to do?
DM: Oh my god, I loved it so much, so so much. It is one of those programmes if you invest in it, it gives back. It is like a soap opera, if you invest in a soap opera and you watch it for a week, it will give back to you in so many ways because you get totally engrossed in the plot and the cast – you know everything about it. There was the cult of Big Brother where a certain group of people were as obsessed as me and we could talk about it for ever. The nuances and the little things you would notice. Would the housemates notice that Big Brother had put something in the garden? Had the people at home? It became sort of a clique that we were all a member of. So that’s so nice to be back with the obsessives! Also live television, I LOVE live television. There is no point in filming something live, if there is no danger of something going wrong, which it often did in Big Brother – it was so very exciting – that’s what people were watching for.

In the show Jack will visit Michael by setting up on the pavement outside his parents’ front door to spend some quality time together. They’ll reminisce over old family photos, awkward home video footage and tell some classic Whitehall tales. They’ll also be catching up with some famous faces, taking part in a special Father's Day edition of MasterChef and surprising key workers who can’t be with their loved ones this year.
We caught up with Jack and Michael (with a few comments from Hilary) to hear about their relationship and how they plan on making this year’s Father’s Day a truly memorable one.

You Should Have Left - Official Trailer (HD)
In a new psychological thriller from Blumhouse Productions and legendary screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, Panic Room), Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried star as a couple seeking a restful vacation on an isolated edge of the world only to discover that secrets demand a reckoning … and travel with you.
In this terrifying, mind-twisting tale, a father fights desperately to save his family from a beautiful home that refuses to let them leave.
Theo Conroy (Bacon) is a successful middle-aged man whose marriage to his much younger actress wife, Susanna (Seyfried) is shredding at the seams, frayed by her secretiveness, his jealousy, and the shadow of his past.
In an effort to repair their relationship, Theo and Susanna book a vacation at a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for themselves and their six-year-old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex). What at first seems like a perfect retreat distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo’s grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna have revealed, even to each other.
Based on the novel by best-selling German literary sensation Daniel Kehlmann (Measuring the World), You Should Have Left is written and directed by David Koepp (Stir of Echoes). The film is produced by grandmaster of terror Jason Blum (The Purge and Halloween franchises), Kevin Bacon and Dean O’Toole (Walk Like a Panther), and is executive produced by Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson and Derek Ambrosi.

Fantastic Four's Josh Trank got "heavy pushback" for trying to cast a Black Sue Storm
Josh Trank has been making the rounds of late, drumming up support for his new Tom Hardy film Capone—and, perhaps inevitably, fielding plenty of questions about the apparent self-destruction of the 2015 Fantastic Four movie, an endeavor that functionally immolated his then-rising career.
Trank has been fairly insistent in interviews that he’s got few regrets about the film, despite all the conflicts and meddling that took place during its filming. But he did describe one moment of deep contrition about its creation, one that he expressed to First Cut’s The Meaning Of podcast this week: Not walking away from the movie after producers made it clear he wouldn’t be allowed to cast a Black actress as Susan Storm.

David Thewlis on playing a Na’vi in Avatar 2: "I’m fascinated to see how I’m going to look"
Over the course of lockdown, we've received a steady-stream of Avatar 2-related news. Multiple photos from behind-the-scenes have been posted online, showcasing just how intricate James Cameron's underwater sequel will be. Speaking to our sister publication Total Film in the news issue, David Thewlis – a newcomer to the series – talks about working on Avatar 2 and how the filming process worked.
"I’ve got no idea what my scenes will be like because there are about 16 guys in the room with video cameras but they’re just shooting reference shots for Jim [Cameron] to look at later," he says. "What those guys are shooting will never be on the screen, what’s being shot is obviously on these sensors. There are about 200 around the room, doing their thing.
"I am a Na’vi, I’m a blue thing in it – which I didn’t quite understand when I went to meet [Cameron]. I was quite surprised when I got offered that. I’m fascinated to see how I’m going to look, because they sort of make them look a bit like oneself. It’s fantastic!"

James Cameron Goes Into 14-Day New Zealand Quarantine Before ‘Avatar 2’ Restarts Filming
James Cameron is heading into a 14-day government supervised quarantine as production on his long-awaited “Avatar” sequels looks to restart in New Zealand. “Avatar” producer Jon Landau announced the quarantine while sharing a photo of Cameron and himself arriving in New Zealand from Los Angeles after a 13-hour direct flight. The two men had originally planned to be back in New Zealand working on the “Avatar” sequels in the early spring, but production was suspended in mid-March amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Productions in New Zealand started ramping back up again in May, paving the way for Cameron and Landau’s return. The 14-day quarantine means production on the “Avatar” sequels will likely resume in June. The sequels will be one of the first major Hollywood tentpoles back in production.

Coronation Street to recommence filming
Coronation Street’s cast and crew have returned to work after an enforced production break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier today (Monday 1 June) the production team began a health and safety induction to familiarise themselves with the new protocols that are now in place throughout the studios and on the Coronation Street set. The new safety measures are in accordance with the recently issued TV production guidelines which will be observed whilst filming the top ITV soap.
The crew are also undertaking the preparatory work necessary to recommence filming next Tuesday, 9 June 2020 at the programme’s studios in Trafford, Manchester. The pattern of recording will initially produce three episodes per week.
The return to filming will ensure the soap, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in December, stays on air in July. The new episodes will be scheduled following the instalments recorded earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic halted production.

The Salisbury Poisonings
In March 2018 Salisbury became the site of an unprecedented national emergency. This three-part dramatisation focuses on the extraordinary heroism shown by the local community.
Introduction by writers Adam Patterson and Declan Lawn
At the heart of our retelling of the events that occurred in Salisbury in 2018, is a story about the internal mechanisms of a public health crisis response. It follows the work of a public servant called Tracy Daszkiewicz, the Director of Public Health of Wiltshire Council, as she works with colleagues to try to combat a lethal and invisible enemy that has appeared out of nowhere. The public health response team of which Tracy is a part instigates a lockdown. They close a local economy. They set up an elaborate system of contact tracing and testing. They source and distribute Personal Protective Equipment for use on the frontlines. And they deal, every day, with a terrified and frustrated public. They all wonder - both Tracy and the people she is trying to protect - whether life will ever be the same again. The answer, in the end, is that catastrophe forces us to look in the mirror, and to confront who we really are. After that, things are never really the same.
